The internal dimensions of a syringe are
Length = 50mm Diameter = 3mm
1cm3 = 1ml
What is the capacity of the syringe?
???
Volume of a cylinder = area of x length
Area of circle = πr2
Diameter=mm
Radius = mm
Area = π x 1.5 x = 7.0685……… (leave your answer on your calculator)
Volume = 7.0685………x = 353.429…. =cm3= ml to the nearest ml

Another syringe has a capacity of 500ml and a length of 50mm.
What is the internal radius of the syringe to the nearest one tenth of a millimetre?
500ml = cm3

Volume of a cylinder = of circle x length
500 = area of circle x 50
Area of circle = 500 ÷50 = mm2
Area = πr2
r2 = Area ÷π
r= √(area÷π) = √(÷π) = 1.7841….mm = mm to 1dp
