A useful video for GCSE Higher students from Hegarty Maths.
I was very impressed when I saw this. Why not have a go?
Here is an excellent summary of the changes being planned for GCSE Maths from 2015.
In summary, large quantities of what is currently in the Higher Tier will now be required for the Foundation Tier. The Higher Tier will include lots more material that is not currently taught. Some topics that students currently find relevent (like how to design a survey) will be removed and replaced with topics only likely to be useful to those going on to study mathematics or science at University. These changes will make the national problem of poor numeracy skills far greater. More people will be put off maths as teachers try to rush through topics to get through the enormous curriculum. Less time will be spent on the important basic skills that everyone needs. As usual Mr Gove is heading in the wrong direction because he is only concerned with the elite and not the ordinary students of our country.
